Trail markings
Since our night r*ns take place at different locations with different routes each time, the actual course is usually only known to the Hare of the day. That’s why we rely on the trail marks left by the Hare along the way to guide r*nners through the route.
At TyMH3, we use trail markings that are consistent with those used by most Hash Kennels in northern Taiwan. Here are some of the most common markings:

Flour Blob
Used to mark a clear and continuous trail, typically on straightforward paths.

Arrow
Placed in open or confusing areas to clearly indicate the intended direction.

Check
探索點
Marks a temporary pause in the trail; hashers must search nearby to find the continuing path.

False Trail
This path leads nowhere—go back to the last Check or block and try another direction.

Beer Stop
A refreshing stop on the trail where hashers can enjoy a drink and recharge.

On In
You're almost there—the end of the trail is near.
However, the most important rules in any Hash run: Follow the flour!
If you realize you’ve gone more than 100 meters without spotting a flour mark, stop and backtrack to the last one you saw. This simple habit can be a lifesaver — especially when we’re running in remote or unfamiliar areas.

Hash signal
During our r*ns, everyone looks out for one another — helping each other get back to the finish point to enjoy a cold beer together. That’s why we’ve developed our own unique set of signals — and yes, they’re universally understood around the world!

When a hasher is unsure about the route or reaches a check, they’ll call out to the r*nner ahead with "R U?" — asking if they’ve found the correct direction.

If the person hasn’t found a trail mark yet, they’ll respond with "Checking!" to indicate they’re still figuring it out. This tells others behind to wait and not rush forward just yet.
